Rigging Specialist with 12+ years' experience

Jeffrey Molinelli started his journey in rigging at Western Equipment BC wire rope fabrication. Jeff would display a unique talent for the field and would quickly establish himself as a specialist. Jeff would establish knowledge in all areas related to his field including sewing machines, rope sling fabrication, overseeing custom load test, and in field tests. Now Jeff is looking to apply his knowledge in his intermediate rigging training course and delivering the highest quality training available in the field.

Edward (Ed) Reid, CRSPnp, MSO

36+ years Training Experience and 25+ Crane Training Experience

Ed has been a certified trainer for 36 + years, providing in-depth and accessible training from forklift operation to fall arrest and overhead crane. His courses include verbal exam delivery for individuals with English as a second language and for those with accessibility need. Before becoming a certified trainer, Ed was a red seal automotive technician. When Ed is not providing high quality workplace training, he is wood working, canoeing, or spending time with his 2 grandkids.

Rigging Training Courses

Intermediate Rigging Training Course

Canyon Rigging’s introductory rigging course is designed to provide practical skills and knowledge to safely perform tasks involving hoists and below the hook rigging gear. All documents and training materials comply with CSA B167-16. Individuals who complete this course walk away with a certificate of completion.  Application and inspection of synthetic slings. 

  • Application and inspection of synthetic slings. 
  • Application and inspection of chain slings. 
  • Application and inspection of wire rope slings.  
  • Application and inspection of below the hook lifting devices and hardware.  
  • Regulations and standards (provincial and CSA). 

On-sight and in-house options are available.

One day course running from 8:00am–4:00pm (45min lunch- lunch is not included)

Overhead Crane Training Course

Canyon Rigging’s overhead crane training course is designed for students who will be engaged in standard day-to-day overhead crane operations. The course focuses on handling lighter lift weights that fall outside the scope of critical lifts, while building essential skills in crane operation, configuration, and safety. It provides a strong foundation for safe and efficient crane handling in routine scenarios.

The advanced overhead crane training course will provide students with an understanding of:

  • Basic terminology
  • Related government legislation
  • Operator and owner responsibilities
  • Crane parts and components
  • Pre and post operational requirements
  • Hand signals
  • Crane and hoist safety
  • Dealing with problems
  • Identify and inspect various types of rigging
  • Workings of a lifting device
  • Load ratings
  • Calculating load weights
  • Centre of gravity
  • Sling tension and load charts
  • Shock loading and how to avoid these cases
  • Preparing and planning for a lift

Advanced Overhead Crane Training Course

Canyon Riggings advanced overhead crane training course is tailored for students who will be involved in overhead crane operations, ranging from day-to-day tasks to critical lift scenarios. This course covers essential overhead crane operation skills and introduces the use of calculations to ensure precision and safety during critical lifts. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of approaching such tasks with the utmost caution and adherence to safety protocols.

The advanced overhead crane training course will provide students with an understanding of:

Standard Forklift (Class 1,4, and 5) Training Course

Canyon Rigging ‘s forklift training course is a one-day training course that covers operation of standard forklifts (class 1,4, and 5) customized to fit your work environment. Students will walk away with the tools, resources, and knowledge to operate a forklift safely. 

Canyon Rigging’s Forklift training course utilizes IVES program to cover the operation of electric-powered forklifts (Class 1) and engine (Class 4 and 5) (sit-down) with a vertical mast. The classroom theory session will provide the student with equipment related technical information and safe operation. Throughout the theory session, there will be chapter related review exercises. These review exercises will assist the student in learning and retention.

Upon successful completion of Canyon Riggin’s forklift training course, the student/company will be provided with a Certificate Folder that includes the final exam, the pre-use inspection/hands-on evaluation form, 8.5” x 11” certificate and student wallet card that displays the following information: qualified operators name, date of qualification, expiry date, operator number and the equipment type authorized to operate.

All materials will be provided by the course trainer.

Narrow Aisle Forklift (Class 2) Training Course

Canyon Rigging’s Narrow Aisle  Forklift (Class 2) Training Course is a one-day training course that covers the operation of Narrow Aisle and order picker class 2 forklifts. Students who take this course will walk away with the tools, resources, and knowledge to operate a narrow aisle forklift safely. 

Canyon Rigging’s narrow aisle forklift training course utilizes IVES program to cover the operation of both the Narrow Aisle reach trucks and order pickers. The classroom theory session will cover the main parts and functions of each type of equipment, along with technical information and safe operation for each type of equipment. Throughout the theory session, there will be chapter related review exercises. These reviews will assist the student in learning and retention. 

  

Upon successful completion of the course. The student/company will be provided with a Certificate Folder that includes the final exam, the pre-use inspection/hands-on evaluation form, 8.5” x 11” certificate and student wallet card that displays the following information: qualified operators name, date of qualification, expiry date, operator number and the equipment type authorized to operate.

Rough Terrain Telehandler and Forklift (Class 7) Training Course

Canyon Rigging’s Rough Terrain Telehandler and rough terrain Forklift (Class 7) Training Course is a one-day training course that covers the operation of class 7 rough terrain telehandlers and rough terrain forklifts. Students who take this course will walk away with the tools, resources, and knowledge to operate a rough terrain telehandler and/or forklift safely.  telehandler and forklift safely.

Canyon Rigging’s MEWP Boom Lift course is a one-day training course that covers the operation of Boom lifts. Students who take this course will walk away with the tools, resources, and knowledge to operate a Boom lift safely. 

Canyon Rigging’s MEWP Boom Lift training course utilizes IVES program to cover the operation Boom lift equipment. The classroom theory session will cover the main parts and functions of the equipment, along with technical information and safe operation for the type of equipment. Throughout the theory session, there will be chapter related review exercises. These reviews will assist the student in learning and retention.

Canyon Rigging’s MEWP Scissor Lift course is a one-day training course that covers the operation of scissor lifts. Students who take this course will walk away with the tools, resources, and knowledge to operate a Scissor lift safely. 

Canyon Rigging’s MEWP Scissor lift training course utilizes IVES program to cover the operation of the use of scissor lift equipment. The classroom theory session will cover the main parts and functions of the equipment, along with technical information and safe operation for the type of equipment. Throughout the theory session, there will be chapter related review exercises. These reviews will assist the student in learning and retention.

Canyon Rigging’s MEWP Combined training course utilizes IVES program to cover the operation of both Boom lift and Scissor lift equipment. The classroom theory session will cover the main parts and functions of each type of equipment, along with technical information and safe operation for each type of equipment. Fall Protection - Authorized Person Essentials

Canyon Rigging’s fall protection training course is a four-hour program that will provide you and your work environment with the necessary tools to complete work at heights safely. 

Canyon Rigging’s Fall Protection training course utilizes 3M program to cover the necessities of fall protection including: 

  • Hazard identification. 
  • Fundamentals of working at height. 
  • Fall protection overview. 
  • Basic system components. 
  • Fall Protection equipment components. 
  • Pre-use inspection of the equipment to be used. 
  • Harness donning and inspection. 
  • Partner checks. 

Each student is supplied with a student package that includes a course book and registration form. There is a closed book exam at the end of the theory session. 

On-sight delivery with theory and hands-on practical delivery.

Fall Protection - Authorized Person Comprehensive

Canyon Rigging’s fall protection training course is an eight-hour program that will provide you and your work environment with the necessary tools to complete work at heights safely. This course provides additional in-depth information to ensure your team is prepared for all circumstances when using fall protection. 

Canyon Rigging’s Fall Protection Authorized Person Comprehensive training course utilizes 3M program to cover the necessities of fall protection including:

  • Fall hazard identification.
  • Fundamentals of working at height.
  • Fall protection overview.
  • Passive systems.
  • Administrative controls.
  • Fall Protection equipment components.
  • Pre-use inspection of the equipment to be used.
  • Harness donning.
  • Inspections.

  • Rescue requirements.
  • System selection and set-up.
